A love note to my Kindle

Dear Kindle,

Don’t worry. I don’t think I’ll be leaving you for the iPad.

I know. It seems as if everything shy of my toothbrush has a shiny apparition of an apple on it. But I think we’re going to be together for the long haul, or at least until iPad can a.) multi-task and b.) be friends with my small family of USB devices. (more…)

Talking Social Media on “These Days”

It’s impossible to think a conversation about social media in the last decade could be mashed into about 30 minutes. But yesterday, we gave it a good college try.

Along with Nate Ridder, a “web chef” based in San Diego, I was invited to talk about social media on the KPBS talk show “These Days.” Among the highlights was a spirited disagreement on the future of MySpace — I was the hopeful optimist — and an interesting lesson the history of social media.  (I admit, I was not familiar with The Well, so hearing about it was really enlightening.)
